The EU and Switzerland have negotiated a broad package of agreements that awaits formal signature by the parties.
On 22 September 2025, the Commission on economy - labour market - health of Rhine Council (in German: Oberrheinrat) met in Basel. The Rhine Council is a cross-border body for mutual information and political consultation, consisting of German, Swiss and French elected representatives. It is a kind of (informal) trinational parliament.
At the meeting, Christa Tobler provided an introduction into the topic of the 'package', which was followed by a discussion with invited parliamentarians from Switzerland and Germany.
