Christmas - Darwin Waterfront

NT Government

Get ready to unwrap the holiday season as the Darwin Waterfront delivers a dazzling Christmas extravaganza of carols, lights and Santa.

Festivities begin on Friday, 1 December at Stokes Hill Wharf as Santa swaps his sleigh for a jetski and puts on a high-speed show with his elves at 5.30pm before disembarking and saying hello to visitors at the Wharf from 6pm to 7pm.

Every Thursday and Saturday throughout December will see Santa at the Waterfront Surf Shack from 5.30pm to 7pm, with special visits from Top End Critters and Darwin City Brass Band.

The second spectacular show in the Liquid Light series, 'Christmas Cascades', will commence in mid-December, with 12 days of sound, light, fire and water set to captivate and delight every evening in the Recreation Lagoon at 7.30pm, 8pm and 8.30pm.

Prepare to party in the Wave Lagoon on Monday, 18 December with our Waterfront Pool Party and a special visit from the jolly-man himself at 10am.

In the lead up to Christmas, from Tuesday, 19 December you'll be able to catch Santa at the Surf Shack every night from 6.30pm to 8pm and our Waterfront restaurants remain open and ready to welcome you throughout the month of December.

Deputy Chief Executive Officer, Sam Burke said Christmas was his favourite holiday and he looked forward to welcoming Territorians to the Waterfront to celebrate this magical time of year.

"There's something special about Christmas at the Waterfront and this year with the addition of our Liquid Light installation, a first-ever experience of its kind for Darwin, the festive season will be even more exciting," Mr Burke said.

"We hope to see families and friends out and about, enjoying the free events, supporting our venues and celebrating Christmas here at the Darwin Waterfront."
