Christmas Street Flag Competition 2021: Bayside

Bayside Council is once again running a competition to find a new design for its festive street flags to celebrate the Christmas holiday season.

"Last year's competition was very successful," Mayor Bill Saravinovski said.

"I am pleased we are doing it again this year and I look forward to seeing the winning designs flown around Bayside."

The competition is open to all residents and local school children.

The winning entries will be printed on Council's street flags and banners and displayed across Bayside throughout December 2021 and January 2022.

The winning design may also form part of Council's Christmas displays, printed material and online promotions.

Submissions can be hand drawn, photographs or digital designs however they must conform to a predefined template that fits with Council branding principles and logo requirements and be suitable for use on a street flag and banner.

Submissions close on Tuesday 2 November.

The winners of the 2020 competition were Kristi Archer from Bexley and Aniko Rowley from Botany.

Both artists submitted designs that merged traditional Christmas symbols with Australian flora and fauna.

Kristi's design depicted Australian native birds decorating a traditional Christmas tree, while Aniko's design combined a Christmas bauble with a sprig of native wattle.
