Benalla Rural City Council is pleased to announce the opening of the Churchill Reserve Dog Park. To celebrate, a free community barbecue will be held on Thursday 26 October between 4pm and 6pm to officially open this new facility.

Benalla Rural City Council Mayor Cr Bernie Hearn, said it was great to see the gates to this much-anticipated community asset opened.

"The Churchill Reserve Dog Park is an example of how we can work with users for a great outcome," Cr Hearn said.

"We listened to our community and worked together to deliver a project that will be loved for years to come. We are thrilled about the positive impact this facility will have on dog owners and their pets."

The park features perimeter fencing, two airlock-style gates for safe entry and exit, three bench seats generously donated by the Lions Club of Benalla and Benalla Men's Shed, a water station with a dog water bowl underneath, and two tunnel and mound constructions aimed at enhancing the dogs' sensory experience.
