The Canadian Intellectual Property Office (CIPO)'s 2024-2025 Annual Report was tabled in Parliament on October 31, 2025. The report highlights CIPO's key activities and results from the 2024-2025 fiscal year.
In 2024-2025, CIPO made significant advancements across all areas of operations, including various system upgrades, a reduction in trademark backlogs and speedier registration timelines. A key milestone was the launch of the Next Generation Patents (NGP), a digital transformation initiative to modernize patent IT systems. Modernization efforts also led to enhanced processes for industrial design and copyright, improved workflows and a more efficient client experience. On the international front, CIPO continued to strengthen Canada's role in the global intellectual property (IP) ecosystem by building partnerships and deepening collaborations with international IP offices.
