City of Kingston announces new CEO

The City of Kingston today announced the appointment of Julie Reid as its new CEO.

As the first female CEO of the City of Kingston, Ms Reid brings a wealth of experience to the role most recently as Director of Engineering Services at the City of Greater Dandenong where she led the delivery of a number of major initiatives.

Kingston Mayor Georgina Oxley said Ms Reid's skills and experience have positioned her perfectly to lead the City of Kingston.

"I am proud to welcome Julie Reid as the new CEO of the City of Kingston and look forward to working together for great outcomes for our community," Cr Oxley said.

With 30 years' experience in the public sector in Australia and the UK, Ms Reid has expertise in major infrastructure projects, strategic planning, urban design, economic development, tourism, arts, events and more.

In 2017 she was named in the top 50 Public Sector Women in the state. She has worked at a number of Victorian local councils including Whitehorse, Bayside and Casey and also has experience in the sector in NSW and the UK.

In her current role, Ms Reid is responsible for delivering a $50 million capital works program at the City of Greater Dandenong, was the project lead for the delivery of the $7million refurbishment of Springvale City Hall and is an active member of Council's Preventing Family Violence and Gender Equity Committee.

Ms Reid said she was proud to accept the role of CEO and is excited to be joining the team at Kingston.

"I look forward to working in such a diverse Council that has a positive reputation for quality service and delivery. I have a strong commitment to engaging with Councillors, Staff and the Community to build on the great work of the Council."

Cr Oxley also paid tribute to retiring CEO John Nevins who served as CEO at Kingston for 14 years.

"John has left an incredible legacy at Kingston with our Council in a strong financial position, high-quality community facilities, an enormous range of services offered and a strong local economy."

Ms Reid will commence as CEO on 26 August 2019.
