City of Parramatta Council will temporarily reduce its library and Customer Contact Centre operating hours as part of its ongoing response to Coronavirus.
The changes will come into effect on Monday 23 March and remain in place until further notice.
Libraries
From Monday, City of Parramatta's libraries will no longer operate in the evening.
Our City Library (1-3 Fitzwilliam Street, Parramatta) will be open from 9.30am to 5pm Monday to Friday; from 9.30am to 3.30pm on Saturdays and 2pm to 4.30pm on Sundays.
Our Branch Libraries - located in Carlingford, Constitution Hill, Dundas (Telopea), Epping, Ermington and Wentworth Point - will be open from 10am to 5pm Monday to Friday and be closed on weekends. Newington Library will be open 2-5pm on Thursdays.
These reduced hours are in addition to other measures already in place, including:
- The suspension of all library programs, including Justice of the Peace services, until the end of April
- Additional cleansing at all sites
- Social distancing practices around public computers, desks and chairs
- Signs in public areas with advice from NSW Health
- Extended loan and membership renewal periods
- 24/7 access to return chutes
- Gloves and sanitiser for frontline staff
Council's Home Library Service remains in operation, however deliveries and pick-ups will only be made to the front door. The service will no longer be available to nursing homes, in line with restrictions imposed by the Federal Government.
Customer Contact Centre
From Monday, City of Parramatta's Customer Contact Centre (Ground Floor, 126 Church Street, Parramatta) will be open from 9am to 2pm on weekdays.
There will be no change to the operating hours of Council's telephone service (1300 617 058), which is available between 8.30am and 4.30pm weekdays.
Customers are encouraged to use Council's telephone and online services. Council's online services are available 24/7.
At this stage, we do not believe the Federal Government's new restrictions on non-essential indoor gatherings - limiting one person per four square metres - will impact our services or our revised hours of operation.
