City of Perth appoints new General Manager

The City of Perth has appointed a new General Manager to its Executive Leadership Team.

City of Perth Chief Executive Officer Murray Jorgensen said it's the first of four vacant General Manager positions to be filled.

"I'm delighted to announce Ms Anne Banks-McAllister as the General Manager of the Community Development Alliance," Mr Jorgensen said.

"Ms Banks-McAllister is a very talented and professional individual who has both local government and private industry experience and has an exceptional reputation in local government circles.

"She has been the CEO of the Shire of Peppermint Grove, had her own consulting business and more recently worked for WALGA as Regional Capacity Building Manager working with many regional local government CEOs on capacity building matters.

"Ms Banks-McAllister beat a strong field of candidates to secure the position and I have no doubt she will be an asset to the City as we look to build a new foundation, given recent history and upcoming challenges."

Ms Banks-McAllister said the appointment is an honour.

"It really is a privilege to be appointed to the position of General Manager of Community Development of our capital city council," Ms Banks-McAllister said.

"I'm under no illusion of the issues surrounding the City and I am looking forward to the opportunity to help rebuild the City of Perth, and have it recognised as a leader in local government."

Ms Banks-McAllister will begin her role with the City on Monday 26 August 2019.

Further General Manager appointments will be announced in due course.
