City promoting live music across 2021 with grants program

Live music venues and businesses can grow and diversify their operations under a business improvement grants program announced today.

Deputy Mayor Donna Gates said City of Gold Coast understood the value of live music to our 'cultural economy'.

"That's why we endorsed the Music Action Plan in 2019 which encourages the development of live music right across the Gold Coast,'' she said.

"Part of that plan includes a business improvement package to further stimulate the industry.

"As we all know, visitors and locals experiencing live music in a variety of coast venues has been a mainstay of our cultural identity for decades.

"We are delighted to be again encouraging live music and music business owners through this funding program.''

The Grants could assist businesses purchase equipment, improve business operations or acoustics.

The program is offering a total of $80,000 in $5,000 and $10,000 grants for existing music venues and businesses.

Application close on 27 January 2021 and businesses can apply if they are an existing live music venue (or business) that has music development/creation/promotion/management as its core purpose.
