Labor's SEC Fraud As Energy Bills Continue To Climb

Liberal Party Victoria

Victorians continue to pay higher energy bills and face less secure power as the Allan Labor Government's SEC falls flat.

Before the last election, Labor promised the SEC would support 59,000 jobs and deliver lower energy prices for Victorians.

In the four years since, the SEC has failed to deliver a single new electricity generation project, as Melbourne electricity prices surge 23.8 per cent in the 12 months to February 2026.

Furthermore, the flagged SEC retail service for households and business has failed to eventuate.

Shadow Minister for Energy and Emissions Reduction, David Davis, said: "The SEC is a fraud that has not delivered the cheaper or more reliable power Labor said it would.

"Time and again, Labor promises one thing before an election and then fails to deliver - the SEC is no different.

"Only the Liberals and Nationals have a plan to lower energy bills and secure our energy future by boosting our gas supply and delivering new urban solar parks."
