City's Active & Healthy partners up to launch world-first event

Councillor using BlazePod technology

A world-first BlazePod sporting event is happening this Sunday at the Gold Coast Sports and Leisure Centre incorporating physical exercise with fun, reflex technology.

The City's Active & Healthy Program has teamed up with Gold Coast company Think Feel Do to create the PodGames, a free event for people of all ages and abilities to compete in various challenges.

BlazePods are the newest reflex training system combining cognitive training with physical exercise which help users push themselves to the max.

Councillor Hermann Vorster said there will be ten activities that will test participant's speed, agility and focus using the latest technology to help get kids and families moving.

"There will be opportunities for children as young as eight to participate or a family category to put your family's competitiveness to the test," Councillor Vorster said.

"Participants will also be competing alongside celebrity sports stars, which I'm sure will bring out everyone's competitive streak while showing first-hand how fun BlazePods can be.

"This is a great opportunity to trial this new, innovative technology and is just one example of the affordable and accessible activities our Active & Healthy Program supports."

The Active & Healthy Program partners with the local sport and fitness industry to provide more opportunities for our community to participate in physical activity. If you're unable to make it to the event this weekend, there will be several BlazePod experiences on offer over the holidays through the Program.

Other activities on offer during the summer holidays include the Water Obstacle Dance Party, silent discos and stand up paddle boarding. To view the summer program, visit cityofgoldcoast.com.au/activehealthy.

Think Feel Do is a Gold Coast company dedicated to building resilience through physical, emotional, and mental wellbeing programs for kids.
