Clock ticking on White's leadership

Madeleine Ogilvie,Liberal Member for Clark

Ms White's refusal to answer basic questions over the handling of a confidential complaint made against Ben McGregor is irresponsible and inexcusable.

In a statement, the complainant said she had met and had spoken with Senior Members of the Tasmanian Labor party. She said "I considered these conversations and the statutory declaration as confidential".*

But instead of keeping the complaint confidential, someone from within the Labor party leaked it to the media to impact Mr McGregor's election chances.

The complainant herself said: "I was disappointed and surprised that the details of my complaint were shared, against my understanding". **

Ms White needs to reveal what role she played in this sorry saga and what she will do to ensure this sort of thing never happens again.

"It is clear that some of those involved in the Labor Party have benefitted from these statements, not me," said the complaint. **

Ms White must come forward and address these very simple questions.

Or will she prove once again she is leader in name only.
