Coast set to sparkle as Christmas and New Year events light up the region

The Sunshine Coast will soon be alight with festive cheer following the switching on of the region's community Christmas tree lights and the launch of the My Christmas publication today.

The turning on of the lights is a highlight of the festive season, marking the official start of Christmas on the Coast.

And again this year, council has worked in partnership with My Weekly Preview to put together the My Christmas publication to promote the region's program of Christmas activities.

The publication will be delivered to 74,000 businesses and households from today.

Mayor Mark Jamieson said the holiday season was a great time to be on the Sunshine Coast.

"Christmas and New Year is a wonderful time to catch up and celebrate with family and friends, to enjoy some downtime or get out and explore all our region has to offer," Mayor Jamieson said.

"The My Christmas publication is filled with a program of fun, family-friendly Christmas and holiday activities throughout December.

"Amongst other activities, my family and I will be heading to Carols at Cotton Tree this year, a very special event that reminds us what Christmas is all about.

"I invite everyone to join in the spirit of the season and get along to some of the community events happening right across the Coast."

The My Christmas publication is a guide to the many events happening throughout December and includes the list of community Christmas trees and Christmas carol events, lyrics for some popular Christmas carols, a great selection of gift ideas, Christmas fairs, markets, recipes, street carnivals, movie nights and much more.
