Cockatoo Complex Upgrade Welcomes Community House

Cardinia Shire Council has completed major building upgrades to the Cockatoo Community Complex and proudly welcomes Cockatoo Community House into the newly revamped community space.

The Cockatoo Community Complex, located at 77 Pakenham Rd, has undergone upgrades to create a more modern and accessible community space, designed to better support local programs, services and the growing Cockatoo community.

Cardinia Shire Council Mayor, Councillor Brett Owen officially opened the renewed complex, acknowledging the significant effort and collaboration that made the project possible.

"We're thrilled to celebrate an exciting new chapter for the Cockatoo Community Complex and the Cockatoo Community House", Mayor Owen said. "Thank you to the Community House team, volunteers and program leaders for your patience and cooperation throughout the relocation process into the new building".

In preparation for the Community House's relocation, Council delivered upgrades including a new storeroom and office, upgraded accessible toilet and shower, reinstated the outdoor retaining wall, installed air conditioning in the meeting room and general repairs throughout the complex. An operable wall will also be installed in the next few weeks.

"These works have transformed the space into a more functional and modern community facility that will serve the Cockatoo community for many years to come," Mayor Owen said.

"We're incredibly proud to have invested $320,000 into the upgrades to ensure the site continues to meet the diverse needs of the community," Mayor Owen said.

The Cockatoo Community Complex also offers hall hire and serves as a designated Bushfire Place of Last Resort.
