Colac Memorial Square Playspace equipment arrives

The Colac Memorial Square Playspace will begin to take shape this week, thanks to the arrival of equipment delayed by transit holdups caused by COVID-19.

"We're thrilled the equipment has arrived in Melbourne and will soon find its way to Colac for the final stages of the project – due to open to the public in around five weeks," says Colac Otway Shire Council Mayor, Cr Kate Hanson. "This will be especially good news for families visiting the Colac city centre over the busy Christmas shopping and summer holiday period."

The playspace includes diverse and inclusive play elements, such as a wheelchair accessible carousel, sand play, musical instruments and a poppy-themed play fort.

Next steps once the play equipment is installed will be working on the rubber surfacing and the final landscaping.

The project is being made possible thanks to $550,000 received in Federal and State Government funding, as well as Council contribution of $50,000.
