Two new township entry signs at the eastern and western approaches into Colac are currently being constructed and will welcome visitors into the township in time for the Christmas holiday period.

Both signs will be identical in design and will feature the wording 'Welcome to Colac - Gulidjan Country of Maar Nation'. The signs will also feature photography showing a panoramic view of Lake Colac, the town's most iconic feature and Victoria's largest freshwater lake.

The signs have been developed in consultation with the Eastern Maar Aboriginal Corporation (EMAC), Department of Transport and local businesses.

Funding was committed within Council's 2021/22 Capital Works budget to design and install the signs as a gateway feature for Colac, with approval consent granted by the Department of Transport - Regional Roads Victoria.

Construction of the entry signs is expected to be completed within two weeks.
