Aussies to snap up $22 WA Rock Lobsters and more fresh seafood savings at Coles

Australians can expect to save even more on their Christmas seafood spreads this festive season, as Coles cuts the price of popular MSC WA Cooked Rock Lobsters to $22 each today – down from $27 each in November.

In selected stores across the country, from today customers can also snap up MSC WA Raw Rock Lobster tails at great value from $21 per tail at Coles so even more Aussies can satisfy their cray-vings for a luxury delicacy this Christmas.

Coles is continuing to make a splash with savings across its responsibly sourced fresh seafood range and working hard with Australian farmers and fisheries to keep the prices low for customers to enjoy ahead of Christmas, including Australian thawed large cooked black tiger prawns at $28 p/kg which Coles has DROPPED&LOCKED until the end of January.

Customers are expected to purchase around 720,000 kilograms of prawns in the weeks leading up to Christmas Day, while over 40% of Coles' annual lobster sales will be made in the days leading up to Christmas.

Coles Executive General Manager for Fresh, Andy Mossop credits Coles' strong partnerships with Aussie farmers and fisheries across the country for helping to provide an abundance of fresh seafood, meaning customers can grab major savings in time for their Christmas celebrations.

"At Coles, customers buy over 70% more seafood in December compared to any other month so we have a great responsibility in providing the best value and supply across our entire seafood range so more of our customers can celebrate Christmas the Australian way – with an abundance of fresh seafood," Andy said.

"More than 70% of our customers[1] have told us 'price' is the most important factor when shopping for Christmas products, so we've worked hard with our fantastic partners to provide the best quality, responsibly sourced seafood while keeping prices low as possible.

"We're delighted to offer ample supply of WA Rock Lobsters at just $22, and for the first time have Southern Rock Lobsters at our Tassie stores, which are internationally regarded as one of, it not the, premium fine dining seafood experiences."

For the first time, Coles will be offering large Tasmanian Southern Rock Lobsters at its local Tassie stores at just $48 per lobster – a more affordable option compared to other markets.

How to spot the difference? Tasmanian Southern Rock Lobster are generally redder than WA Rock Lobsters and caught in cooler waters with a top-quality, delicate flavour.

To help make sure all Coles customers have access to a Christmas delicacy, Coles has introduced temporary purchase limits on WA Cooked Rock Lobsters at 4 per person.
