Councillor Colin Grigg will serve as Deputy Mayor for the next 12 months after being elected at Monday night's Council meeting.
Lake Macquarie Mayor Adam Shultz thanked outgoing Deputy Mayor Councillor Jack Antcliff and expressed his enthusiasm to work with Cr Grigg in the year ahead.
"A united and cooperative Council is key to our success. I'm confident Cr Grigg will continue in helping us meet our goals for Lake Macquarie," Mayor Adam said.
"I want to thank Cr Antcliff for his hard work and dedication as Deputy Mayor during my first year as elected Mayor. His support, leadership and commitment to our community have been invaluable, and I look forward to continuing our work together for the people of Lake Macquarie."
"With a new Deputy Mayor stepping into the role, I'm excited for the fresh ideas, energy and perspectives he brings as we continue building a stronger, more connected Lake Macquarie."
In addition, Councillors approved a Mayoral Minute advocating for Hunter Transmission Project temporary worker accommodation to be constructed using a modular housing product to facilitate and allow it to be repurposed in the future in Lake Macquarie or the broader Hunter Region.
"This is a brilliant initiative where future use of the homes could address housing shortages for people in Lake Macquarie and beyond," Mayor Adam said.
Councillors approved a separate Mayoral Minute to support shared ideas from the Hunter Joint Organisation that will be sent to the 2025 Local Government NSW annual Conference in November.
"These motions align directly with the conference's priority areas of jobs and skills, housing and homelessness, and roads and infrastructure," Mayor Adam said.
Councillors also approved funding for 15 applications for a total of $25,000 as part of the 2025-2027 Local Heritage Places Grant Program.
The Local Heritage Places Grant Program, with the help of Heritage NSW, provides financial support to owners of heritage listed properties or properties in heritage conservation areas to assist with the conservation and preservation of heritage buildings in the city.
