Four new exhibitions exploring colour, Country, coastal landscapes and character are now on display at the Manning Regional Art Gallery.
Leading the new exhibition cycle is Radiance, curated by Jessie Beard and featuring works by the six artists of the Story of Hue collective - Jessie Beard, Jackie Anderson, Lena Baumgartner, Penny Brooshooft, Laura Oczos and Sophie Corks.
The artists share a bold approach to colour, using it to explore landscape, memory and human experience.
More than simply an aesthetic choice, colour is used throughout the exhibition to shape perception, evoke memories and encourage individual emotional responses to the works.
Also on display is ngurramba by Maddy Pitman, exploring the artist's connection to both freshwater and saltwater Country and the influence these places have had on her identity and weaving practice.
A Murrawarri woman with a strong connection to the bush, creeks and open spaces, Maddy grew up on the coast on Biripi Country, developing a connection to its beaches, estuaries and rivers.
In Transition: Coastal , Sandra McMahon takes a minimal approach to shape, form and colour to create works centred on order, simplicity and harmony.
Through repetition, tone, shape, pattern and form, Sandra explores the division of space and draws inspiration from the coastal environment.
Completing the exhibition cycle is Character by Mrs Shepherd, a playful collection of mostly pen and ink drawings filled with personality.
Bringing her signature indie-art style to the exhibition, Mrs Shepherd creates a whimsical world of sketchy lines, colour and engaging characters, with plenty of humour along the way.
All four exhibitions are on display at Manning Regional Art Gallery until Saturday 21 November 2026.
