Comanchero OMCG member charged over Doonside shooting murder

Detectives have charged five men, including a member of the Comanchero outlaw motorcycle gang (OMCG), as part of investigations into a fatal shooting in Sydney's west last night.

About 7.30pm (Monday 27 May 2019), police and emergency services were called to Meridian Place, Doonside, after reports a man had been shot.

On arrival, officers located Craig Anderson, aged 51, with gunshot wounds. He was treated by NSW Ambulance paramedics; however, he died at the scene.

A crime scene was established and examined by specialist forensic and ballistics officers.

Detectives from the State Crime Command's Homicide Squad, with assistance from the Organised Crime Squad and Blacktown Police Area Command, are investigating the circumstances surrounding the shooting under Strike Force Naradhun.

As part of ongoing joint operational policing activities, Criminal Groups Squad's Strike Force Raptor conducted proactive operations to suppress further violent acts.

Following inquiries, five men – aged 22, 28, 44 and two aged 27 – were arrested in four vehicles at various locations including Erskine Park, about 8.30pm, and taken to local police stations.

During a search of one of the vehicles, a Toyota Hilux, a Glock pistol was seized.

The firearm will undergo further forensic and ballistics testing.

The 27-year-old Doonside man, who is a member of the Comanchero OMCG, was charged with murder.

The 22-year-old Quakers Hill man was charged with participate criminal group contribute criminal activity.

The 27-year-old South Granville man was charged with participate criminal group contribute criminal activity.

The 28-year-old Box Hill man was charged with possess unauthorised pistol, not keep firearm safely-pistol, use/supply/acquire or possess defaced firearm, and participate criminal group contribute criminal activity.

They were all refused bail to appear at Penrith Local Court today (Tuesday 28 May 2019).

The 44-year-old Mount Druitt man was charged with drive motor vehicle during disqualification period.

He was granted conditional bail to appear at Penrith Local Court on Monday 17 June 2019.

Investigations under Strike Force Naradhun are continuing.
