Commissioner's Gift Drive Delivers Joy to Needy Kids

More than 3,000 gifts have been donated to disadvantaged children across South East Queensland through the Queensland Police Service (QPS) Commissioner's Christmas Gift Drive this week.

Now in its 33rd year, the Commissioner's Christmas Drive collects donations from QPS members and community organisations to help bring festive cheer to vulnerable children and young people facing difficult family circumstances.

Held annually at Police Headquarters, the atrium was turned into a magical wonderland for a special presentation event this week, featuring Santa Claus himself delivering the first batch of gifts to children in attendance.

Festivities included Santa Paws photos with the QPS Dog Squad recruit puppies, performances by the police choir, face painting, and a special visit from Cinderella.

Commissioner of Police Steve Gollschewski APM thanked community partners for their generosity.

"Our everyday goal is community safety, and today our goal is bringing Christmas happiness to vulnerable children," Commissioner Gollschewski said.

"Seeing the joy on the children's faces shows the true power of community kindness.

"I want to sincerely thank everyone who contributed to making this year's Gift Drive a success.

QPS extends its gratitude to everyone who helped make this year special.
