A committee has been established to oversee the progression of the next phase of the Cairns Gallery Precinct.
Mayor Bob Manning will chair the Cairns Gallery Precinct Project Steering Committee, which will also include Deputy Mayor Terry James and Division 5 Councillor Amy Eden.
The Cairns Gallery Precinct has reached a critical stage in its development, which is being supported by a $10 million Federal Government grant.
Demotion has stated on the 51 The Esplanade, which will be followed by redevelopment of the former Mulgrave Shire Council offices into a new gallery space.
The project will reaffirm Cairns' status as the Arts and Culture Capital of Northern Australia and will have a particularly strong connection to the region's Indigenous community.
