Community Christmas Party Ignites Town's Holiday Spirit

Carollers, twinkling lights and an appearance from Santa Claus will bring the spirit of Christmas alive in the Waring Gardens at the Edward River Community Christmas Party, scheduled for Friday 15 December.

Commencing from 4pm, the event is being co-hosted by Edward River Council and the Rotary Club of Deniliquin.

The Community Christmas Party is a wonderful opportunity for the community to come together, celebrate all the good that has happened over the past year, and to look to the new year with positivity and enthusiasm.

Mayor of Edward River Cr Peta Betts said she is looking forward to ringing in the holiday season, "I think we can all agree that 2023 has been a very busy year of rebuilding and we can all do with celebrating community spirit and resilience."

"And don't forget it's also the perfect time to support our surrounding small businesses and stallholders whilst having a fun family night out," she said.

There will be a host of free and fun activities for the kids with face painting, balloon animals, Christmas crafts, jumping castle and, of course, a special guest appearance from Santa Claus and his elf helpers.

The lights of the community Christmas Tree will also be officially switched on as part of the evening's activities.

Bring a rug, have a picnic or enjoy local fare from the food and beverage stalls and then sit back, relax and enjoy Rotary's Carols in the Park commencing from 7pm.

And what better way to end the night than with Edward River Council's spectacular community fireworks display at 9pm.
