Don't know anyone competing in the Energy Breakthrough? Community members are still encouraged to come along, enjoy the festival atmosphere and activities in the EB Central area from Scouts Victoria, Transurban, Toyota, Freeza and more.

Energy Breakthrough will be held in Maryborough at Princes Park from 16 to 20 November, 2022.

EB Central offers fun for the entire family and will be open 10am to 5pm on Friday 18 and Saturday 19 November. It will be located between Princes Park Oval and Earl Street on the grass area.

EB Central is a vibrant and vital part of Energy Breakthrough, offering visitors and participants an interactive, educational and active exhibition space, as well as a chance to relax, close to the event action.

Providing entertainment, fascinating energy efficient displays and opportunities for career advancement, EB Central explores the latest trends in transport and technology, allowing all to discover alternative energy and have heaps of fun all whilst enjoy the bustling festive atmosphere of the EB program.

A new addition to the weekend's activities, EB, along with Freeza and Telstra, invite the community to bring a picnic rug along to the Open Air cinema to watch the latest movie release of Minions: The Rise of Gru on Saturday 19 November, starting at 8pm.

Central Goldfields Shire Councillor and Energy Breakthrough Governance Group Chairperson Liesbeth Long said excitement was building for this year's event.

"Whilst we know our local school communities are busy preparing and excited for the event we really want to encourage our local community, who might not have children or grandchildren involved to know they are very much encouraged to come along and enjoy the event.

"There's lots of fun to be had for residents of all ages and so we'd love to see our community come along, experience the excitement first-hand and enjoy a great day out.

"Not only does the EB Central offer a great viewing point for all the action, but at the same time you can enjoy engaging displays and find out more about the latest technology whilst enjoying the festival atmosphere."

The side show and carnival rides will not be included in this year's event.

Maryborough's biggest annual event, Energy Breakthrough will be held in November for the first time since 2019.

After a two-year hiatus due to the pandemic, Princes Park will come alive again with more than 5,000 students from over 110 schools around Victoria.

The 2022 Energy Breakthrough is a joint initiative of Central Goldfields Shire Council and the Country Education Partnership and made possible thanks to support from our sponsors including the State Government, Regional Roads Victoria, VicRoads, Transurban, Toyota, La Trobe University, Scouts Victoria, Central Highlands Water, McCafe, Telstra, Freeza.
