Community Groups: can you see yourself at the former Yarrawonga Primary School site?
Moira Shire Council is inviting community groups and organisations to register their interest in the future use of the historic Yarrawonga Primary School site.
Unused since 2018, the site features heritage school buildings, a former courthouse, and former fire station, making it a unique and significant community asset.
Council is running a two-stage consultation process to explore opportunities for community-focused use. Stage 1, open until 22 August 2025, is a simple Early Registration of Interest to identify local groups, service providers, or organisations who could activate the space for community benefit and contribute financially to its restoration.
Moira Shire Council Chair Administrator Dr Graeme Emonson PSM said this was a unique opportunity for the community to bring the site back to life.
"Revitalising this important community space will require a meaningful commitment. We invite the community to envision themselves taking on this opportunity, not just to support its financial restoration, but to deliver valuable services and programs that benefit everyone," Dr Emonson said.
Those who register will be kept informed about Stage 2, a formal Expression of Interest process in coming weeks.
