Almost $40,000 has been shared among 18 community projects in the September round of Surf Coast Shire Council's 2019-20 Small Grants Program.

Grants totalling $38,223.50 were today presented to community organisations across the shire.

The grants ranging from around $400 to $5,000 will provide boosts for a wide array of local projects that benefit the community.

Mayor Rose Hodge congratulated all the successful grant recipients at today's presentation ceremony at the Surf Coast Shire Civic Office.

"A wonderfully diverse mix of projects were presented with grants; from improvements to the Anglesea Community Garden to history trail signage to equipment needed to set up the Surf Coast Volleyball Association."

"These are all grassroots projects that will have benefits for different groups in our community."

"I know how difficult it can be for groups to raise money, so these grants make a big difference in helping them to get important community projects up and running."
