The Community in Harmony 2023 Festival events are on their way.
This year's theme 'Together in Harmony' is aimed at to bringing together and showcasing new and established multicultural groups throughout different events.
This year plenty of free events will be held to celebrate multiculturalism in Orange.
Orange City Council's Community Services Policy Committee Chair Cr Mel McDonell is encouraging all residents to come along with friends and family to celebrate our diversity.
"The Community in Harmony 2023 Festival events are the perfect opportunity to open your minds to so many cultures," Cr McDonell said.
"This annual celebration attracts hundreds of people and is always a really fun afternoon for the whole family."
This year the festival celebrations will include:
- Together in Harmony Garden Party - from 5pm to 8pm, Friday 10 March at the Community Services Centre (Giyalang Ganya) 286 Lords Place
The Garden Party incudes cultural performances in traditional dress together with opportunities for each multicultural group to speak about their culture. Multicultural foods will also be served. Bookings are mandatory and spaces are limited. Please book by calling 6393 8600 by 7 March 2023.
- Harmony Cup Soccer Gala Day - from 9.30am for 10am kick off, on Sunday 12 March at Sir Jack Brabham Park, Field 1, Huntley Road, Orange
The Harmony Cup is a free, round-robin soccer competition for men's, women's and 16s age groups. The competition does not require you to be a member of a local association.
Participants can enter a team and have their own uniforms.
Players and teams can now register to play during Harmony Cup day. Participants and spectators can enjoy multicultural food, drinks, and entertainment, throughout the day.

- Harmony Day - from 4pm to 8pm, Saturday 18 March at South Court, Byng Street
Harmony Day is a whole of community event to celebrate multiculturalism where everyone can belong. The event will feature multicultural food, entertainment, cultural stalls and a National Dress Cultural Fashion Parade. The celebration will offer a wide range of community performers including Kinross Wolaroi Indigenous dance group, and also dancers from, Thai, Malayali, Indonesian, South American and Filipino cultures, as well as local vocal performers.
Multicultural food flavours will be a feature, including Indigenous, Indonesian, Ukraine, South American, African and Filipino - all available for purchase as tasting plates.

Limited outdoor seating is provided, and guests are encouraged to bring their own fold up chairs.
"These events are all about inclusiveness, respect and belonging for everyone regardless of cultural or language background," Cr McDonell said.

These free events are being organized by volunteers with support from Orange City Council and a grant from Multicultural NSW.
