Community Invited To Information Session For DCP Review

Community members are invited to attend an information session to learn more about the upcoming review of the Warragul and Drouin Development Contributions Plans (DCP).

The information session will be held on Friday 12 December from 1.30pm to 2.30pm at the Bellbird Park East Pavilion Function Space.

Here residents can meet the project team to learn more about the review, ask questions and understand timelines for future engagement opportunities.

Baw Baw Shire has experienced steady growth over recent years and to keep pace, Council is reviewing the Warragul and Drouin Development Contributions Plans (DCPs). This review ensures that the plans reflect current growth and infrastructure needs and continue to support the delivery of essential infrastructure and services for our communities.

The DCPs play a vital role in guiding how infrastructure such as roads, drainage, community facilities and recreation spaces are funded. By updating these plans, Council can ensure that development continues to contribute to the creation of healthy, sustainable and well-serviced communities for the future.

The existing Precinct Structure Plans (PSPs) and Development Contributions Plans (DCPs) were incorporated into the Baw Baw Planning Scheme in 2015. With significant growth forecast for the area, this review is both timely and necessary.

The review will help create a clearer and more accurate framework for funding important infrastructure such as roads, drainage, open space and community buildings. It will also look at how projects are delivered and in what order. Any changes to the plans will later be added to the Baw Baw Planning Scheme.

Mayor of Baw Baw Shire Councillor Kate Wilson is strongly urging community members to attend the information session and find out more about the DCP review.

"Rapid growth in our major towns means more pressure on local infrastructure. The DCP review is an important piece of planning work which will help us shape how future growth is managed", said Cr Wilson.

"With change comes challenges but also great opportunity. We want to work with the community on this to ensure the best outcomes for all residents. I encourage the community to come along to the information session and get involved in the conversation."

Everyone is welcome to attend.
