Community Organisations Deliver Local Improvements

Community clubs and organisations across the Cairns region are delivering practical improvements that make it easier for locals to come together, stay active and safely enjoy shared community spaces, supported by Cairns Regional Council's Go Clubs Infrastructure Grant program. Stratford Bowls Club upgrades

The Stratford Bowls Club recently completed accessibility upgrades after receiving $25,000 through the 2025/26 Go Clubs Infrastructure Grant round. The works included improved accessible pathways and new concrete pads between the huts, creating a safer and more welcoming environment for members, visitors and the wider community.

The Cairns Pirates, funded through the 2024/25 round, received $19,500 to support infrastructure improvements that help ensure their facilities continue to meet the needs of players, volunteers and families who use the club each week.

Other community organisations have also recently completed projects that directly benefit local residents. Bayview Heights Community Kindergarten received $17,024 through the 2024/25 round to install cyclone-rated shutters, improving safety, security and weather resilience for children, staff and families.

The Cairns and District Kart Club was awarded $1,965 to complete small but important clubhouse upgrades, including sensor lighting and improved water connections, supporting safer and more functional facilities for members and volunteers.

Cairns Regional Council's Go Clubs Infrastructure Grant program supports local organisations to deliver practical, community-driven projects that improve accessibility, enhance safety and strengthen the places where people connect, participate and belong.
