Inglewood residents who have been affected by the recent flooding will be able to access face-to-face support with a Community Recovery Hub opening its doors in the town tomorrow (4 December).
Minister for Communities and Housing Leeanne Enoch said the hub would be located at the Inglewood Civic Centre, 18 Elizabeth Street, Inglewood, and will open from 9am to 4pm daily.
"The hub will be a place where Inglewood residents can talk to community recovery workers, receive support from partner organisations and those who are experiencing hardship can apply for grants," Ms Enoch said.
"Representatives from community organisations including Lifeline, Red Cross and Salvation Army will be there alongside the community recovery workers to offer assistance and support to affected residents.
"We know that some people in the affected area might prefer to apply for grants or access support online or over the phone so they can focus on their clean-up efforts.
"However, anyone who would like to talk to someone face-to-face to lodge grant applications, seek information or access support services can visit the hub.
"This is the next step in our efforts to support the Inglewood community, and we'll have our Ready Reserves in town to help local residents now that floodwaters have receded and roads are opening back up."
Eligible local residents can also apply for grants and find information about support services through the Community Recovery Hotline on 1800 173 349, online portal at www.communityrecovery.qld.gov.au and the Self-Recovery app.
Minister Enoch said residents of Inglewood who have been impacted by flooding over recent days may be eligible for financial assistance, including Emergency Hardship Assistance grants.
"Yesterday, I announced the availability of this financial assistance that covers the costs of essential items such as food, clothing, medication and accommodation for Inglewood residents experiencing hardship," she said.
"Eligible applicants can receive $180 per person, up to $900 for a family of five or more."
Other grants such the Essential Household Contents Grant and Structural Assistance Grant, which are income tested, are also available to eligible residents in these areas who are uninsured and have experienced certain loss or damage following this disaster.
Financial assistance is available through the jointly-funded Commonwealth-State Disaster Recovery Funding Arrangements.
