Yarra Ranges community members are being encouraged to take part in a health and wellbeing survey to inform actions in Council's next Health and Wellbeing Plan.

The survey focuses on seven priority areas that Council has identified, and the results will inform actions and objectives for the Plan over the next four years.

The seven priority areas are:

  • Responding to public health emergencies
  • Increasing healthy eating
  • Increasing active living
  • Improving mental wellbeing and social connection
  • Tackling climate change and its impact on health
  • Promoting gender equality to prevent violence against women and children
  • Reducing harmful alcohol and drug use

Yarra Ranges Mayor, Cr Fiona McAllister, said it was important to get community input in the initial stages of the Plan's development.

"The Health and Wellbeing plan is one of Council's most important strategies and given recent circumstances it's now more important than ever," Cr McAllister said.

"The Plan essentially guides Council through the decisions and actions it will make over the next four years in relation to health and wellbeing outcomes for our community.

"The feedback and knowledge we gain from this survey will help inform where our priorities should lie, so I encourage anyone with a spare 20 minutes to take part and share their thoughts."

Community members who complete the survey will also be invited to share their details on a separate form to go into a prize draw for one of five $100 vouchers, from a health and wellbeing service in their community.
