Concern for Welfare - Palumpa

A search and rescue operation commenced this afternoon for a 62-year-old man in the Palumpa area.

The last known contact with the man was on 24 January, when he told a friend that he intended to cycle from Leichhardt Outstation to Kelerrk Outstation. His friend advised he would have trouble crossing the creek in current conditions. He has not been seen since. The area has been inundated and it is possible the man sought refuge elsewhere, Northern Territory Police say.

Police were advised after the friend became concerned.

An aerial search this afternoon was suspended due to bad weather.

NT Police will resume the search tomorrow morning at first light.
