Connected and supportive path for carers

Carers are among those who experience the lowest well-being of any large group, as measured by the Australian Unity Wellbeing index. Physically, they are more likely to carry an injury, and socially, many carers feel isolated, missing the social opportunities associated with work, recreation and leisure activities.

Pathways for Carers offers an opportunity for those who care for others to connect and relax in a supportive environment.

The program runs from March to June in partnership with Interchange Outer East, healthAbility and Nillumbik Shire Council.

Nillumbik carers can enjoy a free morning tea at a local café, followed by a walk through nature together.

Each event will feature a guest speaker who will provide a short presentation on their area of expertise whilst enjoying a free morning tea at a local café. Following this, carers can enjoy a walk through nature together.

"Carers perform an invaluable service in our local area, and wider society," said Nillumbik Mayor Ben Ramcharan.

"We want to help facilitate ways for them to meet up and feel supported and connected. Joining this event in Eltham is just one way we're doing that."
