Pembroke Park is set to get a fresh new look when construction starts to upgrade the playground in the popular reserve in October.
The $485,000 project will replace the existing play equipment with contemporary new equipment as well as upgrades to the surrounding amenity of the park.
A flying fox and shade sail have been included in the project, while the existing climbing net will be retained, reflecting feedback received during community consultation sessions.
"Pembroke Park is a unique park that is loved by local families for its many trees and spacious picnicking area," Mayor of Campbelltown Darcy Lound said.
"As a district park serving the whole Minto community and surrounding suburbs, it's important that we have fun and accessible play areas and facilities for residents to enjoy," Cr Lound said.
Member for Macquarie Fields, Anoulack Chanthivong MP, welcomed the upgrade of this popular recreational space.
"I'm delighted that the State Government will contribute to the exciting upgrade of this regional recreational facility.
"The Pembroke Park upgrade will mean more local families can enjoy this vital open space for connection and recreational opportunities."
Other features include a new play unit and swing, sandstone log seating, outdoor fitness equipment, and an accessible path linking the car park with the play and fitness areas.
The project is supported by an $80,000 contribution from the NSW Government's Community Building Partnerships grant program.
Construction is expected to be complete by December, weather permitting.
