Consul General of UAE in New York Visits CHOP

On June 28, 2022, Children's Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP) welcomed Her Excellency Amna Binzaal Almheiri, Consul General of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) in New York, to observe the world-class experience her country's patients receive at CHOP. The visit celebrated a long-standing relationship between CHOP and the UAE to improve pediatric care.

During the visit, HE Almheiri met with CHOP leadership and visited UAE patients who have turned to CHOP for care. CHOP leadership also discussed the remarkable translational research and innovation being driven by the CHOP's physician-scientists.

Over the course of the day, HE Almheiri met with Steve Docimo, MD, Executive Vice President of Business Development and Strategy; Ruth Frey, MSN, Vice President of Global Strategy and Business Development; Trude Haecker, MD, Medical Director of CHOP Global Patient Services; and Jim Callahan, MD, Medical Director of CHOP Global Patient Education.

Several CHOP physicians also met with HE Almeheiri, including Dennis Dlugos, MD, Director of CHOP's Epilepsy Program, Jesse Taylor, MD, Chief of Plastic Surgery, and Jack Rychik, MD, Director of the Fetal Heart Program. HE Almeirhi was joined on her visit by Mayssam Latif, Cultural Affairs Advisor at the Consulate General of the UAE in New York.
