Continuing Education (CE) at the University of Liverpool offers over 200 short courses, lectures and workshops that provide accessible learning for everyone, regardless of their age, qualifications or experience.
Courses covering a diverse range of subjects are available from this September, including creative writing, music, local history, language classes and many more. The 2019/20 programme features a flexible timetable of daytime and evening courses and includes the return of the popular CE Saturday courses.
Academic Director Dr Glenn Godenho says: "We have an assortment of fascinating opportunities, both accredited and non-accredited, all taught by expert tutors.
"This year we present a thought-provoking and challenging selection of courses that explore a number of themes and developments in subjects as diverse as Artificial Intelligence, Roman Pottery, Film Noir, Machiavelli and Georgian Liverpool.
"You can choose to learn for enjoyment, develop new skills, or you may want to learn a new language - our programme showcases the breadth of research at the University of Liverpool with representation across the arts, science and public health."
Continuing Education also collaborates with cultural institutions across the city to provide free talks and workshops. A new series of free public lectures begins this September at the Museum of Liverpool and Maritime Museum. The 'Rebellion and Riots' series will reflect upon the race riots that shook Liverpool in 1919 and provide an opportunity for the public to learn more about the city's heritage.
The University has been providing CE courses for the community since 1889 and despite huge social, cultural, political and economic changes that have occurred during the past 130 years, the provision of adult learning activity for the general public has remained steadfast in the city.
