Macedon Ranges residents will continue to benefit from consistent and considerate collection of their four kerbside bins, with a new long-term contract now in place.
Following a competitive tender process, existing contractor Four Seasons Waste was successful in obtaining a new 8-year agreement for kerbside collection, transport and processing services.
The decision was endorsed by Council in the closed section of the August 2024 Council Meeting, due to the commercial-in-confidence nature of the contract. The tender was let to the market a year early, to provide time for new trucks to be procured, with the contract having started in October 2025.
As part of the new contract, the latest Euro 6 trucks – Euro 6 being an Australian Design Rule which helps to regulate emissions – are being used, while the bin delivery and maintenance truck is also fully electric, further reducing emissions from the kerbside collection service.
The new trucks will be easily recognisable, soon showcasing the waste-educative artwork of local kindergarteners and school students who were winners of Council's bin truck art competition.
Council's Acting CEO Dom Testoni said the new agreement provided certainty to Council – and in turn to residents – for an essential service consistently rated highly within the community, including through the annual Community Satisfaction Survey and customer compliments.
"We're pleased to have been able to secure this new long-term contract, for the benefit of our residents who dedicate the time each week to sort their waste and wheel out necessary bins for collection," he said.
"Residents shouldn't have noticed any change to the current high quality of kerbside collection services, but the upgraded truck fleet will make a tangible and positive difference to our environment, while aligning closely with Council's net zero emissions targets."
Council continues to be an innovative leader in diverting waste from landfill, as one of the first councils in Victoria to implement the four-bin system shire-wide in 2021, and implementing initiatives to recycle soft plastics, textiles, polystyrene and more.
