Weather permitting – Council is conducting hazard reduction burns to reduce the risk of wildfires around the Bohle River and will begin on Tuesday.
The controlled burns will be undertaken in the Burdell area around the Bruce Hwy, Lady Musgrave Cct and North Shore Blvd.
Council crews will monitor the sites over the following days.
Council asks residents to take care and follow any directions from staff during the controlled burns and residents with medical conditions affected by smoke from grass fires are encouraged to take appropriate precautions on this day should smoky conditions affect them.
These controlled burns will reduce long grass that may fuel fires and will be conducted in partnership with Queensland Fire and Emergency Services (QFES).
