As part of Operation Whiskey Biome, police have charged a man with multiple offences in relation to an alleged copper theft in Deeragun on Sunday.
Around 10.15pm on May 25, police will allege two men entered a building that was under construction in a shopping centre on Palm Drive in Deeragun and attempted to steal copper.
Police arrived shortly after and located and arrested a 50-year-old man on the roof of the building.
The Deeragun man was charged with enter premises with intent to commit an indictable offence, possess thing intended for use in connection with an offence, possess property suspected of having been used in connection with the commission of a drug offence and face masked with intent to commit an indictable offence. He was remanded in custody to re-appear in Townsville Magistrates Court on July 4.
The investigation is ongoing and anyone with information is urged to contact police.
