There are no confirmed cases coronavirus in the Northern Territory. The Australians evacuated from China to the Manigurr-ma village are being screened daily for any signs of illness.
Yesterday during the daily screening, the AUSMAT team identified a number of people with mild respiratory symptoms such as a runny nose or scratchy throat, without fever. All these people were well the day before.
"We have taken a very cautious approach as promised to the community and put those people in the isolation block awaiting results of testing," Acting Chief Health Officer Dianne Stephen said.
"We got the local results back last night and all are negative for coronavirus."
The local tests went for confirmation testing to the Victorian reference laboratory (VIDRL) and the people will remain isolated until we receive those confirmatory tests back this evening.
"The local testing revealed some had no evidence of any infection and a few had the common cold viruses detected," said Executive Director of the National Critical Care and Trauma Response Centre, Len Notaras.
"All the isolated people have been checked again this morning – the symptoms reported yesterday are resolving and they all remain quite well."
This will be an ongoing daily process and the AUSMAT team are taking a very cautious approach with isolation and testing of any evacuee with mild symptoms.
