Council adopts Governance Rules and Public Question and Submission Time Policy

Council has adopted the Governance Rules and Public Question and Submission Time Policy following a period of community engagement.

The Regulatory Legislation Amendment (Reform) Act 2022 provided for changes to the Local Government Act (Vic) 2020 allowing for meetings to be conducted by electronic means.

The Governance Rules and Public Question and Submission Time Policy were reviewed to ensure compliance with these new provisions.

Three submissions were received during the community consultation however no changes were proposed to the Governance Rules or Policy.

Council last night committed to a more comprehensive review of the Governance Rules in 2023.

Adopting these Rules and Policy allows Council to continue to undertake transparent and fair decision making.

Open communication and strong governance are important for Council to maintain its connection with the community.

Adopting the Governance Rules and Public Question and Submission Time Policy ensures there will be ongoing transparency.
