Council Begins Construction On New Troups Creek Bridge

The City of Casey will soon begin construction on a new, safer and more durable pedestrian bridge over Troups Creek in Hampton Park. This new bridge replaces the aging, timber bridge and ensures the community can continue enjoying the Hallam Valley Trail safely and with confidence.

Council is investing more than $550,000 to replace the ageing timber bridge, which has deteriorated over time. Construction is expected to begin in next month and be completed by the end of May 2026.

City of Casey Mayor Cr Stefan Koomen said the Hallam Valley Trail remains one of the city's most valued off‑road shared paths.

"This upgrade is a key investment in our much-loved Hallam Valley Trail, which encourages residents to stay active, connect with nature and explore their community in a safe environment away from busy roads."

Cr Kim Ross added, "This new bridge will ensure everyone in our community, no matter their age or ability, can move safely and comfortably along the Hallam Valley Trail. It supports inclusive, active lifestyles for all."

Designed to meet the needs of Casey's growing and active community, the new bridge will be 2.5 metres wide and more than 23 metres long. It will provide a generous and accessible crossing for walkers, runners, families and cyclists.

During construction, temporary detours will be in place and signage will guide trail users safely around the works area while the upgrade is underway.
