Council Call-out For Eco Fiesta 2026 Stallholders

Stallholders and exhibitors are being invited to register now for one of Townsville's most popular sustainability events, with Eco Fiesta set to return to Anderson Gardens on Sunday 7 June.

Held every two years, Eco Fiesta transforms Townsville for a day into a vibrant hub of colour and community spirit as thousands of residents explore practical ways to live more sustainably and in tune with nature.

At the event, residents will be invited to wander through stalls, join hands‑on workshops and connect with the local groups that work alongside the natural environment every day.

Townsville Mayor Nick Dametto said Eco Fiesta 2026 would put a spotlight on the region's remarkable natural assets, with this year's special focus being on native birdlife.

"Townsville has an amazing outdoor tropical lifestyle that is facilitated by our natural geography and environment, and Eco Fiesta is all about helping the community understand this part of the world better and live alongside it," Cr Dametto said.

"This year the focus of Eco Fiesta is our at least 365 native bird species – the city is alive with native birds once you start paying attention, whether it be the rainbow lorikeets having a little too much fun on the mango juice or the black cockatoos zooming across the river.

"These birds are a symbol of the healthy ecosystems we're working to protect, and Eco Fiesta is a fantastic way for our community to learn more about the environment that makes our region so special."

Cr Dametto encouraged local organisations, businesses and sustainability groups to consider hosting a stall at this year's event.

"We generally see crowds that number well into the thousands at our Eco Fiesta events, so it's a very high-profile opportunity for stallholders and exhibitors to share their products, ideas and expertise with the community," he said.

"Whether you're interested in hosting an interactive activity, a demonstration, a workshop or simply sharing your knowledge, your contribution helps bring Eco Fiesta to life."

Healthy Waters Partnership for the Dry Tropics executive officer Kara-Mae Coulter-Atkins said Eco Fiesta was a must-attend event for organisations committed to protecting the environment.

The group is a collective of 20 partners dedicated to keeping watch over the region's local rivers, creeks and waterways.

"As Townsville's most established sustainability event, Eco Fiesta offers a valuable opportunity for the Healthy Waters Partnership for the Dry Tropics to connect directly with the community about the health of places that shape the North Queensland lifestyle, our local rivers, creeks, and coasts," Ms Coulter-Atkins said.

"The Healthy Waters Partnership keep coming back to Eco Fiesta because it celebrates our environment and the people who care for it.

"It's inspiring to see the diversity of organisations in Townsville who are committed to showcasing and caring for our region's natural areas.

"Eco Fiesta is a great event for the community because it celebrates environmental stewardship while offering something for everyone.

"Our natural places are central to the lifestyle we treasure in Townsville, and Eco Fiesta helps people of all ages connect with the places they love and learn how to care for them."

Eco Fiesta showcases a broad range of sustainability initiatives each year, including waste‑wise living, native gardening, wildlife care, environmental education and local extreme weather solutions.

Council staff will also be onsite to provide insights into the work they do every day to support Townsville's environment and growing community.

Stallholder applications are open now until Monday 4 May at 5pm, with organisers encouraging early applications to ensure you don't miss out.
