Hello Dungog shire, I'm James Campbell, and I'm doing your Council Connect video this week.
Council has been quite busy leading up to the end of financial year. At this stage, the most exciting news is that Councillor Liam Ley's off-leash dog park area motion has an update! Council will be creating additional unfenced, off-leash dog areas across Dungog shire with signage to support reasonable pet ownership. The sites that are currently being identified for that following the community engagement that we had were Bennett Park and Jubilee Park, both in Dungog. Thank you to all those who engaged in that process.
And secondly, an update of mine. We had a debate on public housing to go to council at the last meeting. This, unfortunately, was not put forward for a vote, but Council is working in this space and will be looking forward to the Housing Infrastructure Master Plan for the shire in the next year.
Council is also seeking expressions of interest for the Rural Land Steering Committee, which was re-established at the last meeting. Please refer to the council website and Facebook page if you would like to apply to be one of the three community members on that committee.
Council has also adopted the Community Strategic Plan. A lot of engagement was done on this and thank you so much to every member of the community who contributed their feedback. It was really respected by council and we took on as much feedback as possible.
Council also retendered the Dungog and Clarence Town pools with private management being awarded to the incumbent manager to 2030, although on a more stringent contract.
The Clarence Town Structure Plan has been endorsed post public expedition. Thank you again for all those who engaged in this process. This effectively will be replacing the 2005 version and will feed into both the Dungog Shire Housing Infrastructure Master Plan that we're creating at present, and we'll be updating our LEP eventually.
Thank you so much, I won't take up anymore of your day. Have a good one.
