Council Encourages Community To Keep Calm And Caddy On

Council is letting residents know when to expect their next delivery of compostable liners for their kitchen caddy, after an unforeseen delay in community distribution.

The delivery of green compostable liners to residents across the Wagga Wagga Local Government Area (LGA) usually occurs around February/March each year.

These liners, which are supplied by Council and are the only liners permitted for use in the kitchen caddies, are provided free of charge to residents to manage their kitchen food waste.

In 2026 however, deliveries of the liners have been unexpectedly delayed due to supply chain issues, until May.

Resource Recovery Facilities Manager Andrew Baldwin said that several community sites have stepped up to assist Council in providing temporary pop-up locations, where residents are able to collect a new roll of caddy liners, prior to May.

"Managing Food Organics and Garden Organics (FOGO) waste is a job that here at Council, we're always glad to support our community with," said Ms Baldwin.

"That said, sometimes there are unexpected interruptions in our access to the items and services we need in order to provide that support.

"Prior to the next round of liner deliveries to the community, we're opening up four temporary pop-up sites where residents will be able to drop in and collect a new roll of caddy liners for their FOGO kitchen waste."

These sites include the weighbridge located at the Gregadoo Waste Management Centre (GWMC), the Ashmont Community Resource Centre, Ngurra Hub (also located in Ashmont), and Argyle Housing, which is based in the Tolland Neighbourhood Centre.

Ms Baldwin confirmed that these locations are in addition to the permanent pick-up point at Customer Service in the Wagga Wagga Civic Centre.

"These free caddy liners play a really important part in daily management of our food waste – each roll has enough liners for 2-3 per week for a year, however we know that most households would have already used up their supply that was delivered in 2025.

"To that end, we encourage residents to always feel welcome to head to the Civic Centre – or, for the next few weeks, to any of the four pop-up community hub locations – and speak to our friendly staff about collecting your next lot of free green kitchen caddy liners."

Wagga Wagga City Council Customer Service is open each Monday to Friday, 8.30am to 5pm, excluding public holidays.
