Council Finalizes Decisions on Army Rd, Trythall St

Cardinia Shire Council recently finalised decisions on two recent property proposals following community consultation earlier this year.

Council appreciates the community's involvement in the community consultation process. Feedback received for these projects directly informed Council's decisions, which will protect local heritage, enhance the natural environment, and deliver cultural and recreational benefits for generations to come.

Future of Army Road Hall, Pakenham Upper

Council resolved to proceed with a direct sale of Army Road Hall to the Cardinia Civic Concert Band for the certified market value of $20,000 (plus costs, excluding GST).

This decision reflects:

  • The band's long-standing connection to the hall and its cultural significance.
  • Site constraints and expiry of existing use rights in February 2026.
  • The hall's poor condition, requiring significant works.

Community feedback supported preserving the hall's heritage and ensuring it remains linked to local music and arts. An independent probity advisor will oversee the sale process.

Discontinuance and Sale of Part of Trythall Street, Beaconsfield

Council also resolved to discontinue and transfer a 375-square-metre section of Trythall Street to the Department of Energy, Environment and Climate Action (DEECA) for a nominal amount of $1, with DEECA covering all associated costs.

The land will be reclassified from 'road' to 'reserve' and incorporated into the Cardinia Creek Regional Parklands, supporting the long-term vision for more open space and environmental benefits. Community feedback strongly supported this proposal.
