Council Hosts Welcoming Week Unity Tea Event

Ararat Rural City Council is pleased to announce a special community afternoon tea to mark Welcoming Week 2025, set for Sunday, 21 September from 4PM to 6PM at Gordon Street Recreation Reserve.

The event is free and open to everyone.

Residents are encouraged to attend as the city celebrates connection and belonging in our community, joining with people from all backgrounds in recognition of Welcoming Week's ongoing importance to Ararat.

Council has previously celebrated Welcoming Week with events such as community BBQs, fostering a warm environment where new neighbours and long-time locals come together to share stories, food, and build relationships.

Continuing this tradition, the upcoming afternoon tea will offer a relaxed setting for residents, friends, and newcomers to enjoy light refreshments and friendly conversation.

Ararat Rural City Council Deputy Mayor, Cr Bob Sanders said, "Welcoming Week highlights what makes our city unique, namely our willingness to reach out and build genuine connections. There's something truly special about seeing neighbours sharing stories and laughter over a cup of tea. I encourage everyone to drop in, say hello, and get to know someone new. It's these small moments that strengthen our sense of belonging."
