Council launches Christmas Giving Tree

Council's General Manager poses with present and giving tree inside Civic Centre

Gifts are stacking up under Wingecarribee Shire Council's Christmas Giving Tree as part of the annual donation drive to support local families in need.

General Manager, Ms Lisa Miscamble, said that Council is proud to once again support this initiative.

"For a lot of people Christmas can be an especially tough time of the year," she said. "This year has been particularly challenging, and many families continue to struggle."

"Donating a gift is a simple way to help others and make a world of difference to a local family this Christmas."

Non-perishable food items and gifts for children are the most sought-after items.

All items donated will be passed on to the local branch of the Salvation Army where they will be sorted before being distributed in time for Christmas Day.

"The size and monetary worth of the gift isn't important," said Ms Miscamble. "As the old adage goes; it's the thought that counts."

"Our only request is that gifts are new and that they be left unwrapped under the tree."

The Christmas Giving Tree will be on display at Council's newly refurbished Civic Centre until 17 December 2021.

Any gifts received after this date will be held over until next year.

The Civic Centre is located at 68 Elizabeth Street in Moss Vale. Opening hours are 8.30 am to 4.30 pm, weekdays.
