Thórdís Kolbrún Reykfjord Gylfadóttir, the Council of Europe Secretary General's Special Envoy on the Situation of Children of Ukraine, has completed her two-day official mission to London, meeting with ministers and officials of the British government.
Ms Gylfadóttir met with Stephen Doughty, UK Minister for Europe, at the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office, where they discussed the priorities, programmes and support to the children of Ukraine.
At her meeting with the Department for Education, Home Office and the Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government, Ms Gylfadóttir discussed with government officials policies, such as the "Homes for Ukraine scheme" and what the education system of the UK offers.
"The children of Ukraine are being robbed of their right to grow up in peace and security. The systematic targeting of children by Russia is a horrible reality and it requires cooperation and coordination by all actors to make the most of all efforts to help alleviate this immense and unjust suffering," said the Special Envoy.
At the Palace of Westminster, the Special Envoy held a meeting with the Joint Committee on human rights.
