Camden Council has unveiled powerful new messaging on its parks vehicles, as part of its commitment to creating a safer and more supportive community.
The initiative sees Council's fleet branded with bold domestic violence prevention messages, featuring the themes 'Plant the Seed of Change' and 'Let's Grow Change'.
The messaging addresses harmful stereotypes and language patterns, such as 'run like a girl', which reinforce gender inequality and contribute to a culture where violence is more likely to occur.
By focusing on prevention and education, the campaign demonstrates how small actions can take root and grow into lasting, positive shifts in behaviour and attitudes and also encourages the community to challenge harmful behaviours.
Mayor of Camden, Cr Ashleigh Cagney, said the vehicles would travel across Camden every day, serving as a constant, visible reminder that Camden Council says NO to domestic violence.
"These vehicles are more than just vehicles we use for our jobs, they're mobile billboards for respect, safety and zero tolerance for abuse," she said.
"We know change starts with awareness, language and the way we treat one another. By taking this public stand, Council is encouraging every resident to reflect on their role in growing a future free from violence.
"Just as our parks need care and attention to flourish, so too does a safe and respectful community. Every action makes a difference and, together, we can grow change."
This initiative reflects Camden Council's ongoing commitment to promoting respect, raising awareness and fostering a community where domestic violence has no place.
